Krebsallianz supports patients in Paraguay
A delegation from Krebsallianz gGmbH recently returned to Germany from a successful field trip to Paraguay to monitor its pharmaceutical donations.
In the past year, Krebsallianz conducted three pharmaceutical donation projects, valued at over € 2 million, to benefit the public hospitals of Paraguay. These projects included the recent donation of 1,500 units of Emend capsules, which were donated to prevent nausea and vomiting in the Instituto Nacional del Cancer’s to patients undergoing tumor surgeries.
To mark the occasion, a hand-over ceremony was held at the Ministry of Health offices in downtown Asuncion. The speakers at the event included Paraguayan Health Minister Dr. Esperanza Martinez, Vice Minister of Health Edgar Gimenez, Mr. Raul Gatica – Public Affairs Director of MSD for the Southern Cone region of South America, and Dr. Hector Dami – Director of the Instituto Nacional del Cancer, which is the primary cancer hospital in Paraguay and the recipient of the MSD Emend donation. The delegation at the event included Director of Strategic Alliances Dr. Thomas Högn and Medical Director Dr. Juan Carlos Alvarenga, as well as the Director of Humanitarian Programs, who stated “Krebsallianz is pleased to assist needy patients in Paraguay and around the globe with the cancer medicines that they require.” She continued, “We thank our supporters throughout Germany for helping to make access to cancer medicines a reality for the underserved cancer patients of the developing world that we are honored to help.”
Krebsallianz also held meetings at the German mission to Paraguay, in which Ambassador Dietmar Blaas officially welcomed Krebsallianz to the German Embassy and hailed their assistance as a valuable humanitarian contribution that will benefit Paraguayan children and adults that suffer from cancer and its side effects. Krebsallianz also spent many hours visiting the administration, staff, and patients at the country’s pediatric cancer hospitals, which include: Centro Materno Infantil Hospital, Hospital Acosta Nacional, and the Instituto Nacional del Cancer.
Since its program inception, Krebsallianz has conducted donation projects in Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America, in which requested pharmaceuticals and medical supplies are benefiting underserved patients in the developing world who would otherwise not have access. We believe in formation of smart strategic alliances to be most effective and efficient with the resources that we are trusted to administer and thus we collaborate with companies and organizations in Germany, Europe, and around the globe in order to secure high quality medical products for donation.
