The Krebsallianz explicitly supports the UICC „World Cancer Declaration“.

The UICC (International Union Against Cancer) compiled the declaration which calls upon 11 basic goals to control and contain cancer, aimed to be met by 2020. Those who wish to participate can also sign the declaration online. The more supporters the declaration receives, the stronger the proposal grows. This support aims to incite governments to change the specific goals in their countries. The focus lies upon cancer prevention and early detection. More precise goals are to significantly reduce the number of overweight and obese people, drastically diminish tobacco and alcohol consumption, as well as the promotion of an extensive vaccination program against Hepatitis B and HPV to help prevent the development of cervical cancer.

International Governments prompted to act

Governments should be internationally facilitated in furthering sanctions which hinder the production of cancer-causing materials being released into the environment or the work place. The declaration also campaigns for the condition that every person has access to affordable cancer medicines with an assured quality. This aim has been supported for many years by the Krebsallianz. It is the only German aid organisation which cooperates with pharmaceutical companies who then provide free medicines to the poorer cancer patients in developing countries.

‘The Disease of Affluence’ is widely distributed in poorer countries

Experts assume that a third of all new cancer cases could be hindered through a change in lifestyle. However not everybody has access to the knowledge and the necessary means. We shouldn’t forget that cancer is one of the main causes of death throughout the world. 7 Million people die annually of cancer. The majority of these cases occur in industrialised countries, however this ‘disease of affluence’ is now well distributed in developing countries. Experts say this can be traced partly to the adoption of new unhealthy lifestyles which come alongside the development of industrial countries e.g. smoking or unhealthy eating. Not all those affected by cancer are lucky to live in a country where a functioning health system can offer the appropriate therapy. The Krebsallianz attempts to provide patients in need with a realistic chance of healing through donations as well as support to the medical infrastructure in poorer countries.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all donors and supporters from the bottom of our hearts for their help!
