Nepal - Outdoor Lunch

Nepal: Outdoor lunch

Family outdoor lunch is a refreshments event for families and friends or anyone who are tired of everyday works. Family outdoor lunch was organized to provide a refreshing space for children living with cancer and their families. Children affected with cancer and their families need a community and social support to fight against the cancer. It is important for all to manage stress in life to prevent from being depressed. Mental health is always associated with physical health. We need to remain mentally healthy to help our body function properly. One cannot be unhealthy mentally and healthy physically at the same time. Family outdoor lunch helps children and their families to enjoy food and a day of life.

We looked around for a good place to have lunch with peace and little bit of nature nearby. We found a restaurant named Shrey Courtyard which recently got its popularity with a famous song FULMAYA by PRAKASH SHAPUT a young and revolutionary singer of Nepal, shooting. When parents and kids heard about the special thing of place, they started taking photograph and all of sudden an opportunity to meet the brother of singer Shaput and a model knocked us.

We had a discussion about the menu before with kitchen chef and supervisor for the restrictive dietary needs for our kids. We asked for BRIYANI (a typical popular Indian food) to be very spiceless and less oil and salt too. They offered the food as we asked for which was really appreciable thing. We spent almost 3 hours after meeting at restaurant. We asked to pack some foods for some kids who were unable to participate because of their health issues.

Devi Mishra from Kanchanpur, Far west Nepal shared her story how she won the battle against childhood cancer 10 years ago and how does food and hygiene impacts the overall health of a children living with cancer. Father of Angil Bhusal was very thankful to us and couldn’t stop himself thanking us with words like ‘you are like god we met in this city for taking care of our children, we hadn’t met anyone before caring our children this way’.

Family outdoor lunch was our first event of its kind. We plan to continue after having positive feedback from parents. We will organize this 4 times a year and we hope for support from different individuals in coming days. We are very grateful to all of our local helping hands for your kind contribution. Thanks to Maria Mary Lou Vesterl und Shrey Courtyard (for providing 10% off on total bill).
