A new partnership has enabled a number of donations for patients in Ukraine to receive medicine and equipment for their cancer treatment. Earlier this year, soon after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Krebsallianz partnered with the Polish Institute for Emergency Medicine (IEM) and their sister organisation Ukraine Cross-Border Medical Operations Consortium (UCMOC).
The war in Ukraine has put immense strain on the healthcare system, and the majority of resources are directed to emergencies and assisting those injured in the conflict. As important and essential as that care is, the result of this gap in healthcare is now being felt by patients with non-communicable dieseases and cancer. Its our mission at Krebsallianz to serve these patients to help them maintain the treatment they desperately require.
We teamed up with IEM and UCMOC after receiving an urgent request for chemotherapy, we were able to donate a small sum to help the patient involved, and soon after realized the lack of medicine and equipment at Ukrainian cancer clinics.
Over the past few months IEM and UCMOC have been working hard to distribute a large donation of Zoledronic Acid that we received from a donor here based in Germany. Many clinics are short of a number of medicines, so they accepted the donation immediately for quick distribution.
Another area where we are happy to have provided some assistance is in the donation of a number of chemotherapy infusors.
